Document: DoD Program Announcement for the Newton Award for Transformative Ideas During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Suggestion(s):
Please add this funding opportunity to the COVID19 funding opps page here:
https://researchcontinuity.uchicago.edu/research-funding/ - Website: This page provides links to university’s core facilities with information about whether or not they are operating and contacts for those doing urgent COVID research
Suggestion(s):
I suggest adding https://biologicalsciences.uchicago.edu/resources/osrf-core-facilities to the COVID-19 Research Funding Page (https://researchcontinuity.uchicago.edu/research-funding/) in the right-hand sidebar under “Other Resources.”
- Website: Possible New Non-chemical COVID-19 Treatment Locally Drafted
Suggestion(s):
Steam-Treatment therapy is NOT a cure for COVID-19 or any Respiratory Pathogen. Steam-Treatment therapy alters the surrounding environment, making it an anti-mucus environment. Steam has long been an effective method for clearing and breaking up mucus in the sinus and larynx (throat) areas. Steam treatment does not aim to neutralize the COVID Virus, it only aims to relieve the patient of drowning and shortness of breathe symptoms caused by the virus. Steam-Treatment Therapy is purely hypothetical and requires extensive research to gather effective results. Hand held face steamers are also a possibility in salvaging the death rate. Steam treatment can possibly be combined with Albuterol or other liquid forms of experimental COVID-19 medicines. Steam-Treatment is designed for the strict use of water as mucus reliving proponent for safety concerns, however with testing comes results.
Experimental Drugs that are being tested currently like Remdesivir may cause unwanted side-effects and may not be suitable for COVID-19 as it was developed for use against Malaria.
Side effects of Steam-Treatment therapy are likely as follows (but needs trials to gather accurate results)
– Heat or Feeling of hotness
– Gagging (mucus expelling)
– Possible Vomiting
Steam Treatment chambers (outlined in concept drawing) is PVC lined with exclusive closed pipe and air systems. These properties contain the virus ( preventing spread and outbreaks) and make for an easy sanitation process.
